Description

Ozonated Hemp Oil Gel - Our Strongest, Made in New Zealand

A 50g jar of certified organic hemp seed oil infused with medical-grade ozone, made in small batches in New Zealand and stored frozen until it ships. Hemp takes up roughly twice the ozone of olive oil, which makes this our most concentrated gel. It is thick and deliberately sticky - it stays exactly where you put it.

At a glance

  • Strength: strongest of the four - roughly twice the ozone load of olive
  • Texture: thick and sticky, absorbs slowly, stays in place for hours
  • Best for: small targeted areas that need prolonged contact, not all-over use
  • Ingredients: organic hemp seed oil and ozone. Nothing else
  • Free from: preservatives, stabilisers, GMOs, fragrance. Vegan and cruelty-free
  • Size: 50g glass jar

Which gel should I choose?

All four gels use the same medical-grade ozone. What changes is the carrier - which determines strength, texture and how quickly it absorbs. The guidance below reflects what our customers tell us in their reviews, not just theory.

Gel Feel What customers use it for
Hemp
strongest · slowest to absorb (you are here)
Thick and sticky, stays exactly where you put it, absorbs slowly Fungal nails, stubborn or thickened patches, slow-healing and infected wounds - anywhere that benefits from prolonged contact. Some people find it too strong for sensitive or acutely inflamed skin
Olive
medium · balanced absorption
Spreads easily over larger areas, slight protective residue Cuts, grazes and burns, bed sores, eczema on the body, dry and cracked areas, gums, aches and stiff joints, everyday moisturising. Our most-reviewed and most versatile gel
Jojoba
gentle · fastest to absorb
Absorbs fastest of all four, leaves no greasy film Faces, daily moisturising, sensitive and reactive skin, facial and children's eczema, lips, minor cuts and grazes. The mildest of the range
Glycerine
water-soluble · draws moisture in
Water-soluble, syrupy, non-greasy and virtually odourless Gums and mouth, age spots, dehydrated skin. Dissolves in water so it can be diluted and sprayed, which the oils cannot

Which one for eczema?

Our customers report using all three oils for eczema, and the right one depends on where and how severe. Jojoba comes up most for faces, children and sensitive skin. Olive for eczema on the body and larger areas. Hemp for stubborn, thickened patches that haven't responded to something milder. If you are unsure, start gentler - you can always go stronger.

What people use it for

The list below reflects what our customers describe in their reviews.

  • Fungal nails: the most common reason people buy this gel, and the reviews about it are the longest and most detailed on the product. Toenails and fingernails
  • Athlete's foot and fungal skin
  • Stubborn skin infections: including in people whose immune system is compromised
  • Slow-healing and chronic wounds: including pressure wounds and long-standing ulcers
  • Stubborn eczema: thickened or lichenified patches that haven't responded to a milder gel
  • Targeted spots: blemishes and problem areas, applied overnight
  • Aches and stiff joints: massaged into feet, hands and joints
  • Gums: a small amount after dental work
  • Pets: irritated and infected skin on dogs and cats

Why hemp makes the strongest gel

Ozone gas is highly unstable - it breaks down within minutes and cannot be bottled or applied to skin on its own. Bubbling it through a vegetable oil solves that: ozone reacts with the double bonds in the oil's unsaturated fatty acids to form stable ozonide compounds, which then release active oxygen slowly on contact with skin.

How much ozone an oil can hold depends on how unsaturated it is, and hemp seed oil is among the most unsaturated of the common carriers. In a 2023 study that ozonated olive, hemp and coconut oil under identical conditions, hemp reached a peroxide value of 228 compared with 108 for olive - roughly double the ozonide load.

That is the whole reason this gel exists, and it is also why it is sticky. Higher ozonide content means a thicker, tackier gel that absorbs slowly. Several customers tell us they find it difficult to spread, which is fair - it is not designed for all-over use. It is designed to sit on one spot and stay there.

What the research shows

The findings below are about ozonated oils as a class of substance, not about this jar. Study design, sample size and limitations are stated so you can judge the evidence yourself.

An honest note first: the clinical studies of ozonated oils use olive, sunflower or camellia oil. There is essentially no published research on ozonated hemp oil specifically. What is documented about hemp is its chemistry - how much ozone it carries - not clinical outcomes.

How the field grades the evidence

The Madrid Declaration on Ozone Therapy (4th edition, 2025), the consensus document of the International Scientific Committee of Ozone Therapy, grades topically applied ozonated oils at Level B - reasonable scientific evidence that benefits outweigh risks - for nail fungus, athlete's foot, ringworm, psoriasis vulgaris, atopic dermatitis, pressure ulcers, chronic wounds and infected burn wounds.

Antifungal activity - laboratory

Ouf and colleagues (Brazilian Journal of Microbiology, 2016) exposed five dermatophyte species to ozonised oil, cutting spore formation by 97-99% in the most susceptible species and damaging fungal cell membranes. A laboratory study on cultures, not a trial in people, and no comparison against antifungal medicines. Read our summary.

Antimicrobial activity - laboratory

A 2020 review in Molecules (Ugazio and colleagues) reported minimum inhibitory concentrations of 1.18-9.5 mg/mL against bacteria including Staphylococcus aureus and MRSA, and 0.2-0.53 µg/mL against Candida. Nearly all in vitro. Read our summary.

Biofilms on infected wounds - laboratory

Ozonated oils were tested against 28 MRSA and 14 MSSA isolates taken from infected diabetic foot ulcers, showing a high capacity to break down established biofilms. Laboratory work on isolated strains, not on patients. Read our summary.

Wound healing - review of mixed evidence

Anzolin and colleagues (Medical Gas Research, 2020) reviewed 28 articles on topical ozonated oil, finding it repeatedly associated with faster wound closure, lower microbial load and modulated inflammation. Most underlying studies were animal models or small case series. Read our summary.

Skin barrier - small exploratory trial

A split-body trial in 12 patients with moderate-to-severe atopic dermatitis found roughly a 22% fall in SCORAD score and increased microbial diversity on treated sides over three days. Twelve patients over three days is a very small, very short study. Read our summary.

How to use

A little goes a long way. For a blemish, a rice-grain amount; for a nail or rough patch, a pea-sized amount.

  • Fungal nails: apply to clean, dry nails and surrounding skin 1-2 times daily. Nails grow slowly, so continue for 3-6 months
  • Targeted spots: apply to clean, dry skin before bed. The sticky texture keeps it in place overnight
  • Stubborn patches: apply to affected areas 1-2 times daily
  • Athlete's foot and fungal skin: apply 2-3 times daily and continue for several weeks after things improve

Because of the texture, this gel suits spot treatment rather than all-over application. For larger areas try the medium-strength Olive Gel, or the fast-absorbing Jojoba Gel. Patch test first.

Questions people ask

Why is it so sticky?

Because it is the strongest. Hemp holds roughly twice the ozone of olive, and a higher ozonide load makes a thicker, tackier gel. That stickiness is the point - it holds the gel against a nail or a stubborn patch for hours rather than absorbing away in minutes. If you want something that disappears into the skin, that is Jojoba.

Is it too strong for sensitive skin?

It can be. This is our most concentrated gel, and some people find it too much on sensitive, broken or acutely inflamed skin. If your skin is reactive, or you are treating a face, start with Jojoba and move up only if you need to.

Can I use it on my face?

For a targeted spot, yes. For all-over facial use the texture makes it impractical - Jojoba is the one designed for faces.

Can I mix it with another gel?

Yes, and plenty of customers do - blending it with Olive or Jojoba to soften the texture while keeping some of the strength.

How long before I see a difference on a nail?

Nails grow slowly, so this takes patience. Most people applying it daily are looking at 3-6 months to see the new growth come through. Consistency matters more than quantity.

Will it clog pores?

Hemp seed oil is not considered comedogenic, and the gel largely sits on the surface rather than penetrating deeply, which is what makes it suit targeted treatment.

Storage

Keep cool, dry and out of direct light. Refrigeration extends shelf life and preserves ozone potency. Use within 12 months of opening. Hemp gel stays soft at fridge temperature rather than solidifying.
