One of our main objectives here at Natural Ozone is to provide useful, factual information regarding the uses and benefits of ozone gas for you and your families. This is why we've been busy lately creating a new series of informative videos to keep our fellow ozone community in the know.
The first one of the series is an introductory guide to ozone gas and its health benefits for you and your home. Information is given on uses of ozonated water, air ozone and medical ozone treatments showcasing the versatility and effective uses of ozone gas.

Here our Technical Director - Simon Thomas gives a fascinating overview of the surprising range of benefits ozone gas can bring to our lives. Gather the family together and learn something new!
Welcome to the Natural Ozone YouTube Channel. My name is Simon Thomas, product manager for Natural Ozone, a family-run Kiwi company dedicated to helping you harness the myriad benefits of ozone.
Please note, this video is not intended as personal medical advice. For all medical issues, please consult your health professional. Ozone therapy does have a firm scientific basis, in fact there are over 11 000 scientific articles related to ozone therapy on the Pub Med data base in the USA.
So, what is ozone and why is it useful?
What is Ozone?
Ozone is a colourless gas made up of pure oxygen with a distinctive sharp smell.
Have you ever noticed the tang in the air after a summer storm?
Well, then you’ve already experienced naturally occurring ozone.
You’ve probably also heard about the layer of ozone in the atmosphere which protects us against dangerous UV light – especially here in New Zealand where depletion of the ozone layer in times gone by exposed us to higher rates of skin cancer.
Did you know that medical ozone is used in clinics around the world to fight cancer and other diseases?
The oxygen we breathe every day consists of two atoms per molecule which, chemically speaking, is very stable. Ozone, or O3 as it is often known, has an extra oxygen atom in the cluster which is held only by a very loose bond.
This is where the magic occurs.
Due to this chemical instability, there are many substances which react with ozone causing it to pass on that extra oxygen atom, a process called oxidation. Oxidation not only changes O3 back to O2 but also alters the chemical make up of the other material, for example when metal rusts.
“Hey!” I hear you say, “rust is bad, right?”
But what if I told you that ozone can not only break down something as hard as metal but also has the power to neutralise mould, bacteria and viruses – yes, even that pesky virus that causes Covid-19 has been proven in laboratory tests to be susceptible to ozone.

But wait, there’s even more!
Using the latest high-tech equipment, we can create a special gas called “medical ozone.”
When administered according to certain well-researched protocols, medical ozone has been proven to have myriad therapeutic effects on humans and other mammals. Here are just a few:
- Anti-bacterial, anti-viral, fungicidal, anti-parasitic properties
- Activating the Red Blood Cells, thus improving blood circulation by increasing the release of oxygen to the body’s cells, tissues and organs
- Activating and regulating the immune system, whether it is overactive or underactive
- Increasing antioxidant enzymes that protect the healthy cells from being harmed by free radicals
- Accelerating mitochondrial function and increasing the amount of ATP produced. This provides more efficient overall metabolism thus increasing energy production
That’s why medical ozone is used around the globe as a treatment for chronic illness, an everyday tonic for those who wish to maximise their health, and even as a performance boosting hack for elite athletes.
“Ozone therapy – a powerful tool to slow down aging.”
- Dave Asprey, the Father of Biohacking and Founder of Bulletproof.
In this video, I’ll give you a brief overview of some of the ways that we can put ozone to use in our daily lives. For more information on each method, see our many informational videos or visit the website naturalozone.co.nz.
There are three main categories of use for ozone in the home setting: Water, air and medical. Let’s have a quick look at each.
Part one – Ozonated water
I mentioned before that ozone destroys pathogens such as viruses and bacteria. Due to this powerful ability to disinfect, many utilities around the world in countries such as Switzerland and Singapore use ozone in place of harmful chemicals like chlorine. One of the amazing things about ozone is that due to its reactive nature, it dissipates naturally so that by the time the water reaches the consumer, there is no chemical trace.
However, when we charge a flask full of water with fresh ozone, we have a short period of time when the active ozone can be harnessed for specific purposes.
For example, in place of bleach for cleaning and sanitising, as a green alternative to hot water and detergent in clothes washing, for eliminating pathogens and chemicals from fresh food, as a support for difficult to treat infections, to treat caries and support oral health, as a health tonic to be consumed plus many other uses.
Fortunately, ozonated water is very safe for humans and animals.

Part Two – Air ozone
Imagine being able to switch on a small machine, leave it in the room for an hour or so, and when you come back in it’s drastically reduced the pathogens, eliminated odours and left the air smelling fresh and clean. Just think about how much labour that saves, scrubbing benchtops with toxic chemicals and trying to get at all the hidden places where germs like to hide.
Sounds too good to be true? Well, an air ozone generator like this Natural Ozone Purimax does just that!
It creates active ozone from the oxygen in the atmosphere and then uses a fan to distribute it around the room, reaching every nook and cranny.
How is this possible?
Well, that extra oxygen atom we discussed earlier attaches itself to organic matter such as pathogens and stray particles of smoke, changing their chemical makeup. Ozone gas has been shown in many scientific studies to drastically reduce virus, bacteria, mould, spores as well as odours such as smoke and cooking smells.
Customer Review: Robert Harper
“This 20 gram machine is amazing. My partner smokes, her room stank and so did the clothes in the wardrobe. 15 mins of use and left shut for 1 hr. Then vented for a while. I couldn't believe the result! 10 out of 10.”
A word of caution. Airborne ozone can irritate the lungs.
Just like any other cleansing agent, you do need to follow the safety instructions and ensure that no people or pets are in the room while treatment is taking place.
There’s plenty more info about how an air ozonator could benefit your home or business on our website, or else pick up the phone and give us a call! You’ll be amazed at the results.
Part Three – Medical Ozone
Of all the uses that ozone has in our lives, medical ozone is the most fascinating to me.
For over a century, different methods of administering ozone have been researched by doctors and scientists. At present, over 40 000 doctors around the world use ozone therapy as part of their practice.
Now, thanks to modern technology, you can safely administer ozone in the comfort of your own home. You can also buy ready-made topical ozone gels which are proven to support numerous skin complaints
What does the science say?
There have been thousands of scientific studies, experiments and clinical trials published which prove the effectiveness of ozone therapy for a wide range of conditions.
It has been used to support patients with chronic conditions such as various types of cancer, auto immune issues, chronic fatigue, irritable bowel, fibromyalgia, COPD, infectious diseases, skin complaints and many other ongoing general health issues.
Or alternatively, we could have screenshot of each study like in the movies when they show headlines from the newspapers.
Ozone therapy is extremely safe when properly administered but like any other medical procedure must be done according to properly researched protocols.
When buying home ozone therapy equipment, you should only ever deal with a trusted ozone therapy supplier with local knowledge, expert back-up and support services.
For example, when you buy a home ozone therapy bundle from Natural Ozone, you not only receive the best quality equipment but also the exclusive Protocols Handbook that is informed by the latest international standards and techniques.
Not only that, every section of the home ozone therapy guide is backed up with a how-to video so while it may seem complex at first glance, in fact, it’s no more difficult than baking a cake!
Thanks for joining us here at the Natural Ozone channel for this quick overview of a few of the ways that ozone can help us to live healthier and more sustainable lives. Believe me, we’ve only just scratched the surface!
